Erwitt speaks 4 languages. His first camera was an antique glass plate camera, bought when he was 14. He started supporting himself at 15, printing movie stars' photographs. Eduard Steichen helped him get his first commercial job. Erwitt was one of the original founders of Magnum Photo Agency. Elliott loves to tease; his red clown nose often appears at special events.
