• Link was trained as a civil engineer but worked professionally as a photographer for public relation firms before starting the trains project.
• Link spent some time photographing secret military projects for the army.
• His ex-wife was serving time in prison for stealing 2 million dollars worth of Link's photographs. The stolen photographs were recently recovered.

How are the photographs printed and signed?
Printed by O. Winston Link. Signed au verso (back of the photograph) in pencil. Many are stamped on the back as well.

Vintage:
Vintage photographs are rare. Vintage means that the print date is at or near the same time as the negative date.

Technical Information:
Link used a 4" x 5", tri-pod mounted camera with small aperture to preserve depth of field. He used his technical expertise to design lighting to resemble the patterns found in small towns and train yards. Single flashbulbs were remote controlled and synchronized for the precise moment when the train passed. No strobes were used.
